DARPA Selects Elevate Quantum Partner Microsoft for Final Phase of Quantum Computing Program

Following extensive technical analysis with an independent verification and validation team, DARPA selected and is in negotiations with Elevate Quantum partner and consortium member Microsoft for the Validation and Co-Design stage of the Underexplored Systems for Utility-Scale Quantum Computing (US2QC) program, one of two programs that make up DARPA’s larger Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI).

CBS Highlights Maybell’s & School of Mines’ Quantum Fridge

The collaboration of the quantum fridge between Maybell and Colorado School of Mines was highlighted by CBS. The network takes one of the first video looks at the quantum fridge while featuring Maybell CEO Corban Tillemann-Dick as he explains how the fridge works.

One student was quoted saying”: “It feels like I’m working on a new revolution, honestly,” McGrath said. “It feels like I’m right on the cutting edge of what the human race can do … Quantum computing, it takes a whole new paradigm of computing.”

Polis gives a lengthy interview about what the facility will provide, how it will help Coloradans and others with wide skill sets, the future of quantum computing over the next 10-15 years, and highlighting that Colorado will be a hub for new businesses and technologies.

Quantinuum Announces Plans to Build Quantum R&D Center in New Mexico

Quantinuum announced its plans to open a New Mexico site to support ongoing efforts to advance the photonics technologies critical to Quantinuum’s product development. The press release noted that “New Mexico has established itself as a leader in quantum information sciences and the development of photonics and other enabling technologies.” The location is expected to be open later this year.
