Elevate Quantum to Give Opening Keynote for IEEE Quantum

IEEE Quantum Week will take place Aug 31 - Sept. 5 in Albuquerque, and the Mountain West will take center stage with Elevate Quantum CEO Zach Yerushalmi kicking off the event with the opening keynote on Sept. 1 at 8am.

IEEE Quantum Week 2025 has formed an Exceptional Program with 80+ Exhibitors, Sponsors and Supporters featuring technologies from quantum companies, startups and research labs.

Quantum Commons Admin Building Opening August 28

The Quantum Commons Admin Building will officially open on Thursday, August 28th with a kickoff event in Arvada.

This event marks the grand opening of the first major building on the Quantum Commons and kicks off a new series of community gatherings focused on collaboration, innovation, and opportunity across Colorado and the Mountain West's growing quantum ecosystem.

Colorado Quantum Fund for Innovative Landing Opens August 15

The Colorado Quantum Fund for Innovative Lending opens for lendings on August 15th.

The Colorado Quantum Fund for Innovative Lending improves access to capital for quantum companies in Colorado by encouraging lenders to make favorable loans to companies by registering up to 15% of the loan in a pooled loan loss reserve. The reserve is accessible with a 100% refundable tax credit, should the lender incur losses associated with those loans.

Quantinuum to Launch R&D Operations in New Mexico, Expanding Quantum Footprint in the Southwest

Quantinuum, the world’s largest integrated quantum computing company, will begin transforming an Albuquerque facility into a new research and development hub next month, local business press is reporting. The move not only marks a significant expansion of the company’s operations, but highlights the Southwest’s rising role in the national quantum landscape.

The company’s move into New Mexico comes just months after it announced its expansion from its Colorado headquarters. Quantinuum has now signed a multi-year lease for a site in northwest Albuquerque.

The site will initially focus on photonics control, a key component in trapped-ion systems that rely on laser-based manipulation and measurement of qubits. Quantinuum plans to employ at least seven staff members at the facility by year’s end and integrate the site into its broader global full-stack quantum computing operations.

This collaboration unites CGCI’s vision of harnessing capital markets to bolster national security and innovation with Elevate Quantum’s role as the U.S. Government’s first and only major place-based investment in the quantum industry. Through this alliance, CGCI and Elevate Quantum will catalyze investment, accelerate deployment, and champion commercialization of Quantum and other essential technologies across industries, underpinning America’s economic resilience and national security.

Bifrost Electronics Raises $2.5 Million to Advance Quantum Hardware for U.S. Industry

Bifrost Electronics, a Colorado-based quantum readout startup, announced it has raised $2.5 million in seed funding to accelerate development of its next-generation quantum amplifiers. Led by Colorado’s Caruso Ventures, investors include Harlow Capital and others.

Founded by alumni of the Colorado School of Mines and William & Mary University in Virginia, Bifrost has developed a new class of magnetically insensitive, scalable, electro-optic quantum amplifiers. Traditional quantum readout devices are notoriously complex, difficult to use, and failure-prone; Bifrost offers an elegant, functional alternative.

CU Denver Develops Tool That May Lead to Gamma-Ray Lasers and Access the Multiverse

A University of Colorado Denver engineer is on the cusp of giving scientists a new tool that can help them turn sci-fi into reality.

Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering Aakash Sahai, PhD, has developed a quantum breakthrough that could help those sci-fi ideas develop and has sent a ripple of excitement through the quantum community because of its potential to revolutionize our understanding of physics, chemistry, and medicine. Advanced Quantum Technologies, one of the most impactful journals in the fields of quantum science, materials, and technologies, recognized Sahai’s work and featured his study on the cover of its June issue.
