STAR Cryoelectronics develops, manufactures and markets ultra-sensitive Superconducting QUantum Interference Device (SQUID) sensors based on low- and high-temperature superconductors and related PC-based SQUID control electronics, transition edge sensor (TES) and superconducting tunnel junction (STJ) X-ray detectors, cryogen-free adiabatic demagnetization refrigerator (ADR) cryostats, and X-ray spectroscopy systems based on multi-pixel arrays of TES or STJ detectors for X-ray microanalysis in conjunction with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) or X-ray absorption spectroscopy at synchrotron soft X-ray beamlines.

Role & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled professional Electronics Assembly Technician to support the commercial production of electronic instruments, custom cryogenic cable assemblies, and sensors according to internal detailed instructions, specifications and standards.

1. Circuit Board Assembly and Rework
Expert level experience with the assembly and hand soldering of small circuit boards with 0603 and larger SMD and thru-hole components; rework of circuit boards as needed.

2. Cable Assembly
Proficiency with the assembly of high-reliability cables with solder and crimp terminals; ability to build and hand solder fine-wire (down to AWG 40) cable assemblies with D-sub, micro-D and header connectors; epoxy potting connector assemblies; testing cable assemblies for continuity and shorts.

3. Electronics Assembly
Assemble control electronics enclosures, install circuit boards, assemble and install internal wire harnesses; perform basic QA tests.

4. Mechanical Assembly
Assemble mechanical parts and sub-assemblies using fasteners and epoxy; polishing and cleaning of metal parts.

Candidates must be detail oriented, able to follow written and verbal instructions, drawings, and schematics, and capable of working independently with a focus on quality. Typical work schedule will be 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional overtime. Punctuality and attendance are essential.
