We are seeking an Advanced Optical Engineer in our New Mexico Location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in a team of physicists and optical engineers supporting the development of commercial and research systems for quantum computingÂ
- Design and develop photonic systems in new and novel ways to deliver and manipulate light across the spectrumÂ
- Gather technical requirements, turn them into action plans, and ensure the components and systems meet the requirementsÂ
- Participate in testing and alignment execution of designs and developments in integrated optical systems.Â
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelors Degree minimum
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience (advanced degree inclusive) using and maintaining optical, opto-mechanical and/or photonic systems
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People’s Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Ph.D. or Masters in Optics, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related fieldÂ
- Experience with photonic integrated circuits designÂ
- Experience in product development regarding fabrication and/or packaging of PIC systemsÂ
- Experience with photonic simulation tools (Lumerical, RSoft, or similar guided mode and FDTD solvers)Â
- Experience working with a distributed team of scientists to develop a photonic solutionÂ
- Broad understanding of optical principles and practices and intimate knowledge and experience applying this knowledge to projectsÂ
- Programming experience in Matlab, Python, CÂ
- Experience with photonics layout software such as KLayout or GDSFactoryÂ
- Experience with testing and data analysis (taking, plotting, analyzing, fitting and interpreting relevant data from optical testing experiments)Â
- Experience with engineering change documentation; ability to work from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructionsÂ
$130,000 – $163,000 a year
